White Cataract With Silicone Oil After Recurrent Retinal Detachment

Show Description +

A 45-year-old myopic man had a failed scleral buckle with proliferative vitreoretinopathy followed by pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil placement years before presentation in his left eye. The patient never saw too well thereafter. He now presents with a white cataract. I have chosen to go the somewhat unusual route of editing out only downtime and including the ambient soundtrack in this case (speaking to the patient, his family remotely observing and my scrub nurse). The experience should be like visiting my OR. I hope it's 12 minutes well spent.
