The McCabe Belt Loop Technique for Scleral Fixation is a novel technique for fixating a dislocated intraocular lens implant (PCIOL) to the sclera. A cut piece of 5-0 prolene is used to create a 'belt loop' around the haptic with the ends externalized and treated with low temperature cautery to create a flange. The flange is then tucked under conjunctiva and lays flush against the eye wall. The dislocated multifocal IOL is repositioned and perfectly centered and stable with no loss of vitreous.

Great technique - I used it on a patient with excellent results. Any thoughts on using this with a one piece acrylic lens in the bag? Will the prolene suture eventually cheese wire through the acrylic haptic?

Nice Technique. Congratulations. Have your tried tying the knot of 2 ends of prolene (may be 8-0) and burying it by rotation? Like we do it for Iridodialysis repair
